Today, we took a few groups of our NSC volunteers and staff out onto the boardwalk to continue to introduce the pups to the sounds of visitors. Today, we introduced another keeper's scent to the pups at our socialization session. The pups were very calm!
For the first time, we saw Nazca interact with the pups! He went into the den and acted very nurturing. We're not sure that Lana saw him as she was inside the blockhouse at the time. Next week, he may help out with the weaning process by regurgitating food for the pups. Lana should slowly start to wean the pups at about four weeks of age. The pups were very mobile today and we saw two of them even stand up all the way and walk a few steps!
