Maned wolves are native to South America: Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, Boliva, and Peru.
They are monogamous and share at least a 10 square mile territory. They are usually seen alone in the wild, but based on captive behavior, the male is thought to help in pup rearing and protection. Maned wolves are most active between dusk and dawn, so visitors to Animal Discovery usually see Lana and Nazca lounging around the exhibit during the day.
