The wind kept the pups in their den most of the day, but they ventured out for a bit in the afternoon. Today, they met the giant anteater ("Uncle" Eury?) up close through the fence. He smelled them and slimed them a little with his tongue. The pups were confused but not too frightened. We'll start to get them used to each other through these fence meetings, but we want to wait until the pups are more mobile before we let Eury into the exhibit with them. Lana and Nazca will also start to get used to Eury's smell around the pups; this may help them to be a little less worried.
This weekend's weather should be great for the pups, especially in the afternoons! The boardwalk will be open at 11am and 2:30pm to all visitors! We will have the front desk announce any additional viewing times.
